The goal was to create an impactful visual using the data of the 1600 companies. So instead of preparing visualizations like we do for every other challenge or every other data, this needs to be more like someone reading a movie poster and getting hooked on to it.
I first thought of making a comparison visualization with bar charts and scatter plots. But later found that this needs to be an IMPACTFUL VISUAL. So I immediately thought of keeping my original idea of comparison visual but limiting the bar and scatter to now textual information. Later I moved to adding few details on tooltip (hover) which helps user understand which companies have how many leaves and what not.
The information, bar charts and cross tables are very basic visualizations but the dashboard is what catches the eye. This was my goal.
The dataset is very clear and easy to understand. First step was to separate Industry and Sub-Industry to two columns so that I can use them to gain insights and create some charts. So I selected the "Industry" Column and used "TextToColumns" and separated them to two columns. After separating them, I found that some of the companies do no have Sub-Industry. So I replaced all the blank values in Sub-Industry as "N/A". Similary replaced all other blank values in the dataset as "N/A" as replacing them with 0 would mislead me in creating visualizations.
That's it. This was the only "Hard-word" that was involved. Once dataset was cleaned, and design was ready, creating visualizations took very less time.
