Personal Finance dashboard

Personal Finance dashboard

About this project

I create :

Personal dashboard that provides a comprehensive overview of my financial situation. It includes sections for tracking income, expenses, savings, and net worth. The dashboard features measures such as cumulative net worth, percentage of income saved, and percentage of income spent on expenses. It also includes visualizations such as charts that display total spending by category, investment breakdown by category, and month-on-month income and expense trends. This dashboard helps me analyze my financial data, identify areas for improvement, and make informed decisions to manage my personal finances effectively.

Explanation

Create Measures

1 Cumulative Net Worth: This measure tracks the change in your net worth over time. Net worth is calculated by subtracting your liabilities (such as debts) from your assets (such as savings, investments, and property). The cumulative net worth measure shows the overall growth or decline of your net worth as you save, invest, and pay off debts.

  1. % Saving and Income: This measure calculates the percentage of your income that you are saving. It helps you monitor your savings rate and assess how much of your earnings you are putting aside for future goals or emergencies. A higher percentage indicates a higher level of savings relative to your income.

  2. % Expense: This measure shows the percentage of your income that is being spent on different expense categories. It helps you understand how your income is distributed across various areas of spending, such as groceries, utilities, rent, entertainment, etc. This information can help you identify areas where you may need to adjust your budget or cut back on expenses.

Charts:

  1. Total Spend by Category: This chart visualizes your expenses categorized by different spending categories, such as groceries, utilities, transportation, etc. It provides a clear breakdown of where your money is going and helps you identify which categories are consuming a significant portion of your budget. This information enables you to make informed decisions about managing your expenses and potentially reallocating funds to different categories.

  2. Investment Chart by Category: This chart represents your investments categorized by different asset classes or investment vehicles. It allows you to see the distribution of your investment portfolio and track the performance of each category. This information helps you assess the diversification and performance of your investments, as well as make informed decisions about adjusting your investment strategy if needed.

  3. Month-on-Month Income and Expense Chart: This chart compares your income and expenses on a monthly basis. It provides a visual representation of how your income and expenses fluctuate over time, allowing you to identify trends and patterns. For example, you can see if there are certain months where your income is higher or lower, or if your expenses increase during specific periods. This information helps you understand your cash flow patterns and assists in budgeting and financial planning.
