In this challenge ,I worked as BI Developer for North Traders using the Power BI . Hence, generating and building a top -level KPI dashboard for the executive team to quickly allow them understand the company's performance in major area is highly necessary.
Data Source: It contains a multi-table CSV with 2985 records consisting Northwind customers products, orders, shippers and employees.
Projects Objectives: The Objectives is to provide insights that will help the executive teams plan better for future sales and revenue
Problem Statements
The Northwinds executive teams need to identify the key factors that influenced the export and import in the years ( 2013, 2014 and 2015). Additionally ,they needed to know the sales trends , product performance,key customers and Shipping costs.
The information will enable the Northwind Traders make informed decisions on future sales and which part of the product shipping types to focus on .
Research Questions
The dashboard created will be used to answer the following:
Which year was the sales the greatest ?
Which of the month was the sales the greatest?
Which Shipping mode was mostly used for import and export?
Which customer performed the greatest ?
Which product has the greatest sales ?
6.Which country and cities mostly transacts with high sales ?
From the report, the following insights were deduced ;
There is an increase in sales of products from 2013 with the peak sales in 2014 which corresponds to $0.66M of the total sales for the three years of transaction and decrease again in 2015 to $0.47M
United package has the highest rate of delivery of products which accounts to 42.28% proportion of the products delivered in the three years.
There is an intermittently increase and decrease in the sales of products from January to December with the highest sales in April which amount to $ 0.19Mand the lowest in June ,0.11M
In the category of products, beverages were sold in large amount corresponding to $86k and the least being produce with amount $33k
The United State has the highest amount of sales of products of $0.26M for the three years and the least being France with $0.09M
Recommendations
The use of Federal Shipping and Speedy Express should be encouraged for shipping of the products to improve sales by giving more discount to products purchased to about 15%
During the month of June where there was a drop in the quantity sold and sales of products, more campaigns ads should be considered and implemented as soon as possible for future sales in June.
Developing promotion or deals on the category grains & cereals and produce to increase sales and revenue
Targeting marketing strategies during June to generate more revenue.
