The Maven Analytics division has evaluated the costs to setup and the outcome of over 4630 missions by 22 countries. The data begins from 1957 through 2022
Some of the insights discovered include:
- There is an overall success rate of 90% from all the missions
- More than $2.7Trillion USD has been expensed for space missions over time
- The U.S.A alone accounts for 33% of the expense total [$934Bn]
- 2% of all the successful missions took off at 8:45AM
- The U.S.A and Russia have had a stronghold on the space race, both countries launching 62% of the mission total combined
- The early to mid 80's saw a decline in space activity, possible reasons could be economic downturn or as a result of the cold war during that decade
- It will not be until 2015 again before an incline in space mission numbers resumes
- Kazakhstan has seen their space activity reduce significantly over time
An interactive Power BI dashboard has been created to present the data insights
