About this project

The Maven Editorial wants to print an article detailing current industry trends with regards to parental leave allotted to employees both maternally and paternally,

Some insights drawn from the anaysis include:

  • 97% (1551) of companies allow no paternity leave and 40% allow no maternity leave
  • Nation wide average paid maternity leave allocation is 11 weeks (~3months)
  • 90% (9900weeks) of paid time off across all industries is allocated to maternal employees
  • 95% (17000weeks) of unpaid time off across all industries is allocated to maternal employees
  • Telemedicine practitioners, Philanthropy and HR Services are among the top industries that allow paid maternity leaves with a minimum of 19 weeks of paid time off
  • Various sectors of the tech industry (4wks average) are among leaders in paid paternity leave allowance
  • The Printing industry (40wks unpaid, 2wks paid) along with Real Estate, Retail Electronics (both 24wks) and Non-profit Legal services (32wks) can certainly improve paid maternal leave allowance

The bottom line: Given the importance of mother-child bonding during the early stages of child birth and development, it is essential that nursing mothers be afforded sufficient time to take care of their child without the pressures of work. The national average of 11 weeks off for maternal leave should certainly be raised significantly.
