Mexico Restaurant Trends

About this project

This project was an exploratory analysis of the consumer ratings dataset to find trends for a restaurant investment opportunity in Mexico. The goals were to determine the following:


  1. Who is the target customer base?
  2. What city has the largest target customer base?
  3. What is the target customer's income/budget?
  4. What type of cuisine does the target customer base prefer?
  5. What services do the highest rated restaurants provide?


MySQL was used to explore the tables and establish a target demographic. After creating age brackets, it became clear the majority of reviewers were in the 18-25 age group. The applicable queries were saved as Views and were imported to Power BI along with the existing tables. (See additional images for SQL)
