Formula 1 dataset Dashboard

About this project

Overview of the dataset:

This is my first Power BI dashboard report; it was created under the guidance of Malvik Vaghadia on Udemy and is an exact replica of the one demonstrated throughout the course with minute formatting differences. The dataset was loaded into Power Query, and some transformation and DAX calculations were performed to make the dataset ready for advanced visualization.

  • Key terms to Understand the Analysis Better and Effectively -

Formula 1 - Formula One, also called F1 in short, is an international auto-racing sport.

Constructors -These are people or corporate entities which design key parts of Formula One car that have competed or are intended to compete in the FIA World Championship.

Grand Prix - All the races in a season combined are called ‘Grands Prix’. For say, The number of Grand Prix in a season has varied through the years, starting from 1950 which had 7 races. This number kept increasing up to a maximum of 20 GPs a year (in 2012). Normally there are 19 to 20 GPs in a season now.

Circuits - Tracks where the race takes place

Grand Prix World Championship - The results of all the Grand Prix races in a season are taken together to determine two annual Championship awards. They are -

  • Drivers' Championship Award (for the drivers)
  • Constructors' Championship Award (for the constructors)

To create the dashboard, the summary page was first developed, hyperlinked with Page navigator buttons for easy navigation to the dashboard. Then Individual Pages were there for Driver analysis, Constructor analysis, and for Grand Prix and Circuits. The Slicer was inserted for filtering out Date Range. Then Visualization like column charts, Map, TreeMap, Scatter Plots, etc. was used to make the analysis easy to understand and interpret. Lastly, Custom Tooltip was developed to make it more appealing to the Users.
