SKI RESORTS REPORT (2022)

The Maven group is planning a fun retreat for its employees and has decided a ski resort would be the ideal place. However, the management is having a hard time deciding what ski resort to go to.

As their Senior Data Analyst, I was given a dataset that contains various information on ski resorts across the globe and was asked to present the data in a simple easy-to-understand way that would enable the management to decide on the ideal ski resort for its staff retreat.

The goal of this project was therefore to simplify the information contained in the dataset by answering the following questions:

1. Where are the ski resorts located and how much do they cost?

2. What facilities and amenities (slopes, lifts, snow cannons, parks etc.) do these resorts provide?

3. Which resorts are child-friendly and allow for summer and nighttime skiing?

4. What is the average snow percentage covering these resorts each month?

To answer these business questions, I cleaned the dataset using power query editor, modeled it by combining 2 tables (resorts and snow), and visualized the results in PowerBI.

Summary of findings: Of the 499 ski resorts available, 495 are child-friendly, 29 and 204 respectively provide facilities for skiing during summer, and at nighttime, and 378 have snow parks. The price of each resort also varies, so the management of Maven group can choose an ideal ski based on its budget and preferences. A summary table and Country slicers have also been added to make choosing the ideal ski a fun and simple experience.
