About this project

undefinedThe Maven Hotel Group is a Portuguese chain with resorts in Lisbon and Algarve.

They've had spikes in cancellation rates for the 3rd straight year, and need to quantify its impact on the business and find potential improvement opportunities.

The goal of the project was to answer these three questions:

  1. What impact do the cancellation rates have on revenue?
  2. Do the cancelation spikes show any patterns?
  3. Are there opportunities to fill the rooms left empty by cancelations?

The analysis was conducted using PivotTables in Microsoft Excel, and the results are presented in a dashboard.

The bottom line: overbooking same-month reservations in July & August can help fill the canceled rooms at a higher price and with a lower risk.
