How do nursing Quality Indicator Scores affect facility outcomes?

This project is both a data analytics project and performance improvement. I gathered data for most days from January 2022 through September 2024 for how many new admissions nursing scored Quality Indicators (QI scores) based on a spreadsheet used most days to discuss QI scores in a daily QI Huddle. I wanted to see if the increase in nursing completing QI scoring affected our facility's Program Evaluation Model (PEM) score, and if so, by how much?

I first explained some of the reasons that nursing was not completing QI scores and showed graphs based on data from January 2022 through April 2023 when most of the interventions put in place to improve scoring took place. I also broke out information for scoring on specific days of the week to see if there were any particular patterns there.

I then compared similar data from May 2023 up to September 2024, as well as showing the improvement in nursing QI scoring, as well as the days of the week. In addition to averaging scores, I also added a trend line to the overall PEM chart with an R-squared of 0.067, a very small (weak) positive relationship between nursing completing QI scoring and the facility PEM.
