Road Accidents due to Driver Violations (India) Dashboard

Description :

Dummy dataset provides a comprehensive overview of state- and union territory-level road accident figures due to driver violations in India for 2014 and 2016. It contains details such the state or UT, its name (State/UT), Region, Number of accidents due to alcohol intake, over speeding, lane jumping, overtaking, driver sleeping, signal avoid, wrong side driving and other causes in both years too. With such a wealth of information compiled up into one dataset this opens avenues for researchers to help understand accidents better from preventative measures like putting up signage or creating more vigilant road patrols when drivers are known for not adhering to existing speed limits.

Key Objective of Dashboard:

1. Visualize each insight effectively.
2. Use color consistently & deliberately.
3. Analyze the data by state/UT to get an overview of the accidents that occurred.
4. Utilize the ‘State/UT’ and ‘region’ columns to match specific location and determine the types of violations commonly observed in your area.
5. Figures out which states are more prone to certain type of violation as compared others across India.

Observation:

1. Overall Road Accidents increased in 2016 as compared to 2014.
2. Alcohol intake and lane jumping violations incidents decreased in 2016, rest violations increased.
3. Major increment of road accidents in South regions.
4. Overspeed violation having maximum accident cases.
5. Actions need to be taken by authorities for better enforcement of laws and thereby reduce road accidents due to driver negligence.

Data Source : Data taken from Kaggle. Dummy dataset contains States/UTs/region wise records of road accidents for 2014 & 2016 in India, as a result of driver violations.
