About this project

Project Goals:

The primary goal of this project was to create a comprehensive and interactive Supply Chain Dashboard using Power BI. The objectives included:

  • Visualizing Key Metrics: To provide a clear and concise view of critical supply chain metrics such as sales, orders, profit, and customer segmentation.
  • Enhancing Decision-Making: To enable stakeholders to make informed decisions based on real-time data insights.
  • Identifying Trends and Patterns: To analyze historical data and identify trends that can help optimize supply chain operations.

Business Needs:

The business needed a robust solution to address several key challenges:

  • Data Consolidation: Integrating data from various sources to provide a unified view of supply chain performance.
  • Performance Monitoring: Tracking and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Strategic Planning: Providing insights that support strategic planning and forecasting.

Discovering and Presenting Meaningful Insights:

To achieve these goals, the project involved several steps:

  1. Data Collection and Preparation:
    • Power Query: Used to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from multiple sources. This included cleaning and shaping the data to ensure accuracy and consistency.
    • Data Modeling: Created a robust data model to establish relationships between different data tables, enabling efficient data analysis.
  2. Data Analysis:
    • DAX (Data Analysis Expressions): Utilized DAX formulas to perform complex calculations and create measures that provided deeper insights into the data.
    • Segmentation and Filtering: Applied segmentation techniques to analyze data by different categories such as customer segments, regions, and product types.
  3. Data Visualization:
    • Interactive Dashboards: Designed interactive dashboards with various visualizations including bar graphs, line charts, and maps to present data in an easily understandable format.
    • Key Metrics and KPIs: Highlighted key metrics such as profit, orders, and sales to provide a quick overview of supply chain performance.
    • Trend Analysis: Included trend analysis charts to visualize profit growth and sales trends over time.
  4. Insights Presentation:
    • Sales by Market: Visualized sales distribution across different regions to identify high-performing markets.
    • Customer Segmentation: Analyzed customer segments to understand their impact on sales and orders.
    • Orders by Department: Segmented orders by departments to identify areas for improvement.
    • Sales vs. Discount Rate Analysis: Examined the relationship between discount rates and sales performance to optimize pricing strategies.
    • Top-Selling Products: Highlighted the best-performing products to inform inventory and marketing strategies.

By leveraging Power BI’s powerful features, this project successfully transformed raw data into actionable insights, enabling the business to make data-driven decisions and optimize supply chain operations.
