Interstate Migration Patterns

Atlas Van Lines is a moving company in the United States that has published an annual study on migration patterns using its internal data since 1993.

The results of their 2022 study were visualized as follows:

The purpose of my project was to visualize this data differently and focus on creating an engaging narrative.

An interesting trend in the original map is that most states classified as "outbound" were concentrated around the Great Lakes, so I used this as the focus of my makeover by emphasizing it in the title.

I also decided to split the map into two, one highlighting the "outbound" states and another for the "inbound":
