Inspectional Services​

The project: Build scalable reports & dashboards for the Maven Inspectional Services, a fictitious restaurant health inspection agency based in Los Angeles, California.

The aim: Create reports and dashboards that can be shared across the company for collaboration. This project requires the usage of both Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.

Data sources: A folder of CSV files, containing information about health inspection records, along with details about each restaurant, health inspector, and violations.

The work

• Connect and transform the raw data
• Build a relational data model
• Create new calculated columns and DAX measures
• Build reports & dashboards within a company workspace
• Automate dataflows and schedule updates
• Share and collaborate with peers and other teams
• Create a mobile layout for the report to be consumed on the go

The output: The final output is a single-page interactive report containing the core business KPIs as well as a view on regions and the types that drove the most violation, the violation trending, and a visual map distribution by zip code.
