About this project

Objective

Develop an interactive visualization to delve into the evolution of LEGO sets over the past five decades.

Insight

The quantity of released LEGO sets has consistently risen since 1970, surging from 40 sets in 1970 to an impressive 900 sets in 2021. A notable spike occurred in 1998, indicating a substantial growth trend. Projecting forward for the next five years, the trend is expected to persist, with a 95% confidence interval estimating the number to fall between 890 and 1055. Among the various theme groups, "Miscellaneous" stands out as the most popular, followed by "Licensed" and "Modern Day," each comprising half the volume of the Miscellaneous theme Group. Noteworthy mentions for the most popular LEGO sets themes include Gear, Duplo, and Star Wars. The "Normal" category represents the highest proportion of released LEGO sets.

Additionally, it's important to highlight that 57% of the released LEGO sets cater to the age range of 6-9, while 34% target the 1-5 age group, with the remaining 9% designed for other age ranges.
