Overview

This project uses data visualization to tell a single page story of the expectations of team Germany going into this year’s 2022 FIFA World Cup based on their history at the world cup and how they qualified for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

About the Dataset

This dataset was provided by Maven Analytics for Nov/Dec. 2022 Data Challenge (#mavenworldcupchallenge). The dataset contains tables outlining results from previous world Cup matches and international matches, countries which participated, host and the year these matches where played. Also, a table containing the date and opponents for each of the 64 matches scheduled for the current year's FIFA World Cup (Qatar 2022).

Insights

1. Germany is among the most successful teams at the FIFA world cups. However, Germany had a poor performance last world cup and will seek to amend it at Qatar 2022.
2. Germany Scored 36 goals and conceded goals for Qatar world cup qualification matches and hopes to continue in this high goal scoring spirit at the world cup.
3. With lots of new team members with zero world cup experience, the few older ones are expected to be of great help to the younger ones.
