Goals
My goals were to answer the following questions:
- Which states & hospitals are the most responsive ones with the highest number of completed surveys?
- Is there any improvement in overall patient satisfaction over the years?
- What are the worst and best performing measures and states in terms of patient scoring?
- What are the worst and best performing periods and states in terms of responsiveness towards the survey?
- What are the measures that need more focus?
- Can I provide any recommendations for the states that are underperforming?
Approach
My main approach was to make the dashboard as interactive as possible so that the viewer can navigate information about patient satisfaction from any angle they want to. For example someone wants to see the patient satisfaction scoring regarding cleanliness of hospital in the year 2021 for the state of nebraska.
Data Cleaning
- I have cleaned the data in a way that all the tables are connected through their foreign keys and the relationships are well-defined.
- For some data they didn't have a specific numeric value, rather they had ranges. I have used an average number for that data (Completed survey) so that its easier to have an estimate about how many people completed the surveys. For example, I assigned the numbers like this: 300 or More to 350 |Fewer than 100 to "75" | Between 100 - 299 to "200". This might not be exactly accurate but this does give a direction to have a clear idea about this variable.
Data Visualization
- I have used "easy to understand" wording so that anyone can go through the dashboard and understand what is it about. PowerBI was used as it provides deep customization of the charts.
- The color themes I used was green, white and brown so that it looks closer to "care" or "nature".
- Interactive maps and Icons have been used to make the dashboard fun and easy to follow.
Generating Insights
- I have answered all the questions that pre-decided. Apart from that the insights and recommendations have been integrated in a way that anyone can the insight and complementary recommendation.
