Happiness worldwide analysis

Power BI Dashboard

About this project

The World Happiness Report may be a point of interest survey of the state of worldwide bliss. This is an annual publication of the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network. It contains articles, and rankings of national happiness based on respondent ratings of their own lives, which the report also correlates with various life factors.

A Happiness Score, which is a national average of the responses to the main life evaluation question asked in the Gallup World Poll (GWP), which uses the Cantril Ladder, determines the level of happiness of citizens perceive themselves to be.

The Happiness Score is explained by the following factors:

  • GDP per capita (Economy)
  • Healthy Life Expectancy (Health)
  • Social support
  • Freedom to make life choices
  • Generosity
  • Corruption Perception (Trust in goverment)

🚀 Goal

Explore each of the above factors simply and dynamically for the general public, seeking to answer the most common questions:

  • Which are the happiest and unhappiest countries?
  • What is their average happiness?
  • Do any of the factors considered have any correlation with the level of happiness?
  • How happy are we in my country? How far have we moved up or down in the ranking over the years?

Solution: Design a visualization tool that allows us to answer these questions in some of the most popular solutions, Power BI or Tableau. For this project, we opted for the former.
