__STYLES__
This is my submission for the Maven Analytics Tour de France data challenge. The aim of this infographic style website is to educate new viewers of the Tour de France, show the magnitude of this event, and build anticipation and viewership. View the full project here (https://tourdefranceinfographic.my.canva.site/).
As most viewership comes from Europe, a goal was to make this event relatable outside of Europe. One method employed to do so was to give measurements using both metric and imperial system. The assumption being viewers in the United States would more easily relate to imperial measurements. Another goal was to make the metrics of the race more relatable by giving context, drawing comparisons to other events, or things that people may relate to more easily. This should allow the viewer to get a feel for the magnitude of the event.
Visually I wanted to lead the viewer to various stages to explain the race. I used the road graphic to draw viewers eyes through the infographic to key points to understand the race: event explanation, history, and the race details.
I used Power BI for the data ingestion, cleaning, analysis, and line graph visuals, and Canva to put it all together into an infographic, and to publish the site. The infographic format was a fun and challenging change of pace from creating reports and dashboards. Thanks Maven Analytics for providing the opportunity to explore the Tour de France data and have some fun with infographics.
