About this project

This is my capstone project for completion of the Welup Digital Data Analytic Bootcamp.

It is a summary of the analysis of the Global Superstore dataset.

Global Superstore is a global online retail store headquartered in New York City, United States of America.

It has a broad range of products and aims to be a one-stop-shop for its customers.

The superstore’s clientele come from 147 different countries and can browse through an endless offering with more than 10,000 products. This large selection comprises three (3) main categories: office supplies (e.g., staples), furniture (e.g., chairs), and technology (e.g., smartphones), and seventeen (17) product sub-categories.

The analysis seeks to answer the following 7 business questions:

a) What are the three countries that generated the highest total profit for Global Superstore in 2014? b) For each of these three countries, which three products generated the highest total profit?

a) On which 3 product subcategories was the highest average shipping cost spent in the United States?

a) How profitable is the company's business in Nigeria (i.e., total profit) for 2014. How does it compare to other African Countries? b) What factors might be responsible for Nigeria’s poor performance?

a) Which product subcategory is the least profitable in Southeast Asia, specifically in the following countries Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar (Burma), the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam?

b) Is there a specific country in Southeast Asia where Global Superstore should stop offering the sub-category of product identified in 4a?

a) Which city is the least profitable (in terms of average profit) in the United States? For this analysis, exclude cities with less than 10 orders. b) Why is this city’s average profit so low?

a) Which product subcategory has the highest average profit in Australia?

a) Who are the most valuable customers in Global Superstore and what do they purchase?
