The objective of this challenge was to create a KPI dashboard for the Northwind Traders executive team. It contains data related to the company's sales, products, customers and shipping costs, and was designed to accommodate new data as time goes on.
The first page of the dashboard is dedicated to general sales information. I included a graphic that tracks total net sales by country, as well as a visualization that shows monthly net sales by year so that as more data is added, the monthly totals can be compared to those of previous years. There are also charts for Key Customers based on net sales, Top Markets based on net sales, and Employee Sales Data which shows the number of orders and net sales each employee and office location has been responsible for.
The second page of the dashboard is dedicated to product and shipping information. For shipping information, I created visualizations that show the number of orders shipped and total shipping costs for each shipping company, and a simple chart that shows whether or not orders were shipped prior to their requested arrival date. For products, one of the main visualizations shows a breakdown of net sales for each product category by country, which provides insight into what types of products are being ordered the most in each location. I also included visualizations for the current highest-grossing products, lowest-grossing products, the number of products in each product category, and the number of discontinued products.
On each page, I also included slicers that can be used to alter the information shown based on the order year, the customer, the country, and the specific product or overall product category.
Insights:
The company's New York office currently has nearly triple the net sales of the London office. Considering its proximity to the many European cities we serve, steps should be taken to increase sales within the London office.
Though the USA ranks highest in terms of net sales, the top Key Customer and Market are currently both within Germany.
One of the current highest-grossing products, the Thuringer Rostbratwurst, has been discontinued. Additionally, half of the current list of discontinued products fall within the Meat & Poultry category.
Beverages as a whole are the company's highest-grossing product category, and account for over $250K in total net sales. In fact, the current highest-grossing product, Cote de Blaye, is a beverage.
