Challenge Objective

For the Maven Northwind Challenge, I am working as a BI Developer for Northwind Traders, a global import and export company that specializes in supplying high-quality gourmet food products to restaurants, cafes, and specialty food retailers around the world.

As part of my role, I have been tasked with building a top-level KPI dashboard for the executive team. Its purpose should be to allow them to quickly understand the company's performance in key areas, including:

• Sales trends
• Product performance
• Key customers
• Shipping costs

The dashboard should be built to evolve and accommodate new data over time, but I have been encouraged by your manager to have insights & recommendations ready to share with the VPs.

Approach to Solution from a Business Perspective

Given the fact that Northwind Traders operate in the supply chain industry across the world, in addition to having metrics prepared on sales trends, product performance, key customers, and shipping costs - I figured some additional insight and trend analysis on the invoice size, frequency of orders per month/quarter/year, top categories, products, and customers, and high performers and the accounts they manage would come handy in making some prominent business decisions.

However, no business remains static and the requirements would likely change over the course of time. In such a case, the metrics built for this dataset could be tweaked as needed. Some data transformation have been made using Power Query Editor, and additional transformations may be made if business cases for them arises.

Overall, the dashboard intends to give the members in the Executive Office a promising insight into the business health and make data-driven decisions at a much lesser time.
