About this project

The goals of this project

To identify the difference of parental leaves policy amongst industries and companies

About the dataset

There are two .csv file:

  • The first file namely parental_leave featuring columns companies, industries, paid maternity leave, unpaid maternity leave, paid paternity leave, unpaid paternity leave.
  • The second file is data_dictionary which helps to define the dataset's fields.

Tools I used

SQL and Dataflake (BI tool)

What I did

Step 1: I imported .csv file to Tableplus where I connected to my database before so, I can explore the data in the table

Step 2: I accessed Dataflake visualization tool, connected to my database and used SQL to transform data and created chart.

Insights I discovered

In 1601 companies,

  • Philanthropy industry offers the most decent both average paid maternity leave (22.4 weeks) and paternity leave (26 weeks). Their policy leans towards paternity leave.
  • 53 companies don't provide paid maternity leave and 32 companies don't provide paid paternity leave.
  • Bitdefender and Dynatrace offer generous maternity leave policy but when it comes to paternity leave, Dropbox accounts the highest one.
