As part of the "Mad About Sports" course, I was assigned a task to create a comprehensive dashboard focusing on Dinesh Karthik.

TASK

Creating a concise one-page dashboard showcasing Dinesh Karthik's overall batting performance in a specific match during IPL 2022..

APPROACH

1. Data Collection: Gathered the relevant match data, including such as runs scored, strike rate, boundaries, and dismissals, bowler faced, area of scoring.

2. Data Cleansing :Applied data filters in Excel to isolate Dinesh Karthik's performance and specifically focused on the match played against Delhi Capitals (DC). Removed unnecessary columns to streamline the data and enhance its relevance to Karthik's batting performance in that particular match.

3. Visualization Selection: Choose appropriate visualizations that effectively represent Karthik's performance. This include bar graphs for runs scored against bowlers , and runs scored in each phase, Scatter plot for Runs vs Strike rate, and pie charts to depict Wagon wheel

4. Dashboard Design: Design a visually appealing and intuitive one-page dashboard layout. Include the selected visualizations along with key performance metrics, such as Runs, Balls, Fours, Sixes, Boundary % , to provide a comprehensive overview of Karthik's batting performance in the specified match against Delhi Capitals.

INSIGHTS

1. Dominant Performances: Dinesh Karthik showcased exceptional batting prowess against M. Rehman, scoring the most runs with a superior strike rate.
2. Versatility across the Ground: Karthik's scoring proficiency was evident across all areas of the ground. Notably, he accumulated the highest percentage of runs (27.5%) in the midwicket region, emphasizing his ability to find gaps and score runs effectively in that area.
3. Minimal Runs against Axar: Karthik's relatively lower run count against Axar Patel could be attributed to limited opportunities facing him. This suggests that Karthik had limited exposure to Axar's bowling, resulting in fewer runs scored against him.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, the project successfully analyzed Dinesh Karthik's overall batting performance in a specific IPL 2022 match against Delhi Capitals. The findings highlighted his dominance against M. Rehman and KK Ahmed, scoring runs across the ground with a significant percentage in the midwicket region.
