Microsoft Income Statement Financial Report

Objective: The objective of this project is to create a comprehensive income statement financial report for Microsoft Corporation using Power BI, covering the period from 2017 to 2022. The report will provide insights into Microsoft's revenue, expenses, and net income, as well as their trends over time.

Data Source: The data for this report will be sourced from the Macrotrends website. Specifically, we will be using the income statement data for Microsoft Corporation for the period 2017 to 2022, which includes the following financial metrics:

• Revenue
• Cost of Revenue
• Gross Profit
• Operating Expenses
• Operating Income
• Net Income

Tools: For this project, we will be using Power BI, a business analytics service by Microsoft that provides interactive visualizations and business intelligence capabilities with an interface simple enough for end users to create their own reports and dashboards.

Steps: The following are the steps that will be undertaken to complete this project:

1. Data collection: The data for Microsoft's income statement for the period from 2017 to 2022 will be collected from Macrotrends website.
2. Data cleaning and preparation: The collected data will be cleaned, transformed and preprocessed for better visualization.
3. Data modelling: The cleaned and preprocessed data will be modeled in Power BI for creating different visualizations.
4. Creating visualizations: The different visualizations for Microsoft's income statement will be created in Power BI, including charts and graphs for each financial metric.
5. Analysis and interpretation: The report will be analyzed and interpreted to gain insights into the trends and patterns of Microsoft's financial metrics over time.
6. Sharing the report: The report will be shared with stakeholders, such as executives, managers, and shareholders, for better decision-making.

Deliverables: The deliverables for this project will include:
