About this project

Plan:

As the Plan was to provide a clean and single-page report with a summary of the Olympics history on LinkedIn, I tried to focus on • Telling a progressive story with a structure
• Clear in terms of visuals, consistent color palette, and legibility of any text

Approach:

I split the report into three sections - overall athlete’s overview, female athlete’s overview, and medals overview. I used the technique of creating a title to provide a summary of each visual and then used visuals to reinforce the message.

Findings:

• US contributes the most number of athletes and won the highest number of medals.
• Summer Olympics athletes’ number has been constantly increasing. However, there is a sudden drop in winter athletes' numbers from 1994.
• Female athlete's representation has steadily increased since 1928 and saw the highest increase between 1994 and 1998.
• Athletes age-grouped in 20-25 are most likely to win medals whereas aged 45 and above are least likely to win medals.
• Athletics, Swimming, and Rowing are the top three sports that won the most medals.
