This dataset was provided by People Analytics Starter and includes data on over 4000 employees, including their demographic information, job details, salary information, and more. The dataset includes columns for employee ID, department, sub-department, job level, managers, gender, sexual orientation, race, age, education, location, location city, marital status, employment status, salary, hire date, term date, tenure, term type, term reason, and active status.
The metrics that I chose to focus on were gender and the pay discrepancies. I looked at the average salaries of males and females and compared them by location, department, education level and by roles at the company. I used Tableau to edit and manipulate the data exclusively.
The biggest issue with this particular company was the upon looking at roles, only males are directors. With 125 positions filled and none belonging to females this is a red flag for lack of diversity. Overall, males were generally paid more than females across all of the metrics looked at.
