About this project

Introduction & Challenge Objective:

This challenge is about creating a compelling and insightful report, capturing key elements of employee performance, productivity, and demographics in a corporate environment. The task is to design and build an interactive Power BI report that provides clear, actionable insights for HR and management teams. The report should focus on one or more of the key areas. However, I decided to create an extensive dashboard, that is useful to answer quite a handful of questions.

About the Dashboard:

The "HR Analytics Dashboard" is a comprehensive and interactive tool designed to provide HR teams and management with actionable insights into their workforce. It covers a wide range of key areas such as employee demographics, performance evaluation, satisfaction analysis, productivity metrics, and turnover rates. The dashboard enables users to explore complex data patterns, compare trends, and make informed decisions based on employee behavior and organizational trends.

About the Dataset:

The dataset includes 100000 records that contain data on employees.

Tools Used:

Power BI, FIGMA

Data Preparation & Modelling:

The data was pretty much clean but it required some changes. The dim Date table was added and few basic changes were done.

Data Analysis and Visualization:

Dashboard Designing - I planned to create a 5-page dashboard covering every key areas like Performance, Satisfaction, Productivity and Turnover. I don't want my dashboard to just show numbers, I want it to answer key questions and hence it was a bit extensive. One new approach this time was - while building parameter and allowing user to select it, I prepared it like a question and thought it would be intuitive.

Key Features:

  • Comprehensive Workforce Overview:Visualize total headcount, active workforce, turnover rates, retention rates, and average salary.Filter insights by key demographic metrics such as age, gender, education, department, tenure, and team size.
  • Performance & Satisfaction Analysis:Compare performance and satisfaction scores across various employee groups and departments.Evaluate factors like overtime, remote work, sick days, and training hours to determine their impact on performance.Understand trends in performance and satisfaction over time, including comparison with previous years (PY analysis).
  • Productivity Insights:Analyze how operational factors like project load, tenure, and promotions influence employee performance.Deep dive into department-level insights to spot bottlenecks and opportunities for growth.
  • Turnover Analysis:Discover key drivers of employee turnover, including job role, department, and promotion opportunities.Correlate turnover with satisfaction and performance scores to understand retention challenges.Examine salary discrepancies and their potential link to turnover rates.

Conclusion:

In today’s data-driven HR environment, decision-makers need more than just high-level statistics. They need granular insights that can identify trends, explain anomalies, and suggest actionable steps to improve employee performance, satisfaction, and retention. This dashboard is designed to be a powerful tool that provides HR professionals with everything they need to make informed decisions and cultivate a thriving workforce.
