On Track: National Rail Performance at a Glance

In this project, I conducted a comprehensive analysis of train delays, cancellations, route performance, and peak time disruptions to uncover key operational challenges. The dataset I utilized includes detailed information on delays caused by weather, technical issues, and staffing shortages, as well as cancellation reasons such as signal failures.

Key features of the project include:

• Delay Analysis: A thorough breakdown of delay times, specifically focusing on identifying the longest delays, particularly those lasting 31-60 minutes. This analysis helps pinpoint critical periods where improvements are needed.
• Cancellation Insights: An in-depth analysis of train cancellations, with a spotlight on those attributed to signal failures and staffing issues. Understanding these causes enables better contingency planning and resource allocation.
• Route Analysis: A comprehensive evaluation of train performance across different routes. This includes identifying patterns in delays and cancellations, which can inform future scheduling and operational strategies.
• Peak Time Analysis: Insights into how delays and cancellations impact peak travel hours. This analysis aims to optimize scheduling during high-demand periods, ultimately improving reliability and customer satisfaction.

The project leverages dynamic visualizations in Power BI for enhanced user engagement. These tools provide actionable recommendations to improve train operations, enhance customer experiences, and reduce disruptions effectively.
