Mobil Game Analysis

About this project

At this project a company aims to help game developers understand the market, provide a better monetization strategy, and improve user engagement. I tried to answer some interesting questions within an App Store Mobile Games dataset.

Summary of the Analysis:

  1. Total Games and Developers: The dashboard shows that there were 16,135 total mobile games analyzed, developed by 8,257 different developers.
  2. Average Price and User Rating: The average price per app is $0.47, and the overall average user rating is around 82% (4.1/5).
  3. Genres by Price: The genre with the highest average price appears to be "Strategy" games, followed by "Games" and "Entertainment." Other genres like "Board" and "Puzzle" games have relatively lower average prices.
  4. Top Games by Income: "Fantasy Dragon World" is the top-grossing game, followed by "Smarticks" and "Wild Survival Simulator 3D" as highlighted in a pie chart.
  5. Average User Rating and Price by Year: The trend graph indicates that both user ratings and prices of apps have fluctuated over the years. It seems that app prices have had slight variations, whereas the average user ratings have generally stayed high.
  6. Distribution of App Sizes: The distribution of average app sizes (in bytes) over the years indicates a growth in app size, which may correlate with more complex and feature-rich games being released over time.
  7. Languages and Developers by User Rating: There is a word cloud representing the most common languages in the apps, with "English" being the most prominent. Another bar chart displays the top developers by user rating, with "Makeover Mania Story Games" and "Mango Mobile" at the top.

Recommendations:

  1. Focus on High-Income Genres: Given that "Strategy" games have the highest price, developers should consider creating or investing in games within this genre, as it appears to yield higher revenues.
  2. Monitor App Size Growth: As mobile games increase in size, optimizing game performance to keep sizes reasonable could lead to more downloads, especially in markets with limited data plans or storage capacities.
  3. Improve User Ratings: Apps with higher user ratings tend to perform better in downloads and revenue. Focusing on user feedback, ensuring quality content, and minimizing bugs can help maintain high ratings.
  4. Localization and Language Expansion: Since English is the predominant language, expanding to other languages may tap into under-served markets. Consider focusing on popular languages like Spanish, Chinese, and French to broaden the user base.
