About this project

Business Goal : The primary goal was to analyze the business performance of the pizza sales and give recommendations to ensure increased sales for the coming years. Following are the questions I tried to answer in this analysis.

  1. How many customers do we have each day? Are there any peak hours?
  2. How many pizzas are typically in an order? Can we identify any seasonality in the sales?
  3. Are there any pizzas we should take of the menu, or any promotions we could leverage?

This is my thought process and the steps that I took to execute the analysis.

Step 1: Asking the right questions: I started my analysis by asking the following questions.

  1. What are the key objectives? Improving the overall business performance.
  2. Who are the stakeholders? The owner
  3. How does my work fit into the overall business strategy? Explore the data, find pattern & trends and provide recommendations based on it to optimize the business operations.

Step 2: Data Exploration: I started exploring the dataset & build the relationship model between all the tables in Power BI.

Step 3: Calculations: I performed some DAX calculations to find out the relevant Key metrics and extracted the month, day name, hour etc from the date field to figure out the peak times.

Step 4: Visualization: I structured my report with Key metrics displayed at the top. Then I showed the peak hours and seasonal trends. I also mentioned the best and the worst selling pizzas in my analysis and ended the report with the recommendations that I think would help the well being of the business.
