In this project, I was presented with the task of analyzing coffee shop sales at three different locations in New York from January to June 2023.
My goal was to convert the data into an interactive and dynamic dashboard in order to identify trends and locate areas of opportunity for the business. I did so by creating Pivot tables and charts to visualize Revenue by Month, Transactions by day of the week, transactions by hour of the day, transactions by product category, and the top 15 products sold. I added a slicer to toggle among the three franchise locations.
When creating my charts, I noticed that the Astoria location was the most consistent as far as sales both per day and throughout the day. They are also the only franchise that opens at 7 AM and closes at 7 PM as opposed to the other locations that open at 6 AM and close at 8 PM.
I believe these hours correlate with consistent sales throughout the day. The Astoria location doesn't reach the peaks of Hell's Kitchen (from 8-10 AM, transactions reach 7,000 per hour) or Lower Manhattan (from 7-10 AM, transactions reach 6,000 per hour), but they also do not have the extreme lows (6 AM and 8 PM for Hell's Kitchen and 7-8 PM for Lower Manhattan).
The Hell's Kitchen and Lower Manhattan locations would likely benefit from closing one hour earlier; perhaps even two hours earlier in Lower Manhattan's case.
