About this project

Executive KPI Report Overview

This high-level KPI report provides the executive team with insights into the hospital's recent performance, focusing on the following six KPIs:

  • Patient Admissions: Distinct count of patient IDs.
  • Readmission Rate: Number of patients readmitted to the hospital within 30 days divided by the total encounters.
  • Patient's Average Length of Stay: Average duration of a patient's stay at the hospital in hours.
  • Average Cost per Visit: Average claim cost.
  • Number of Procedures: Total count of procedures.
  • % of Procedures Covered by Insurance: Ratio of procedures covered by insurance to the total number of procedures.

This report is designed for a high-level overview, containing a single page to present these KPIs to stakeholders clearly. It includes a recent date period filter to emphasize the most current performance and is built to accommodate new incoming data continuously.

Data Transformation

The only data transformation applied was the removal of the 5/2/2022 data point. This was because there was only one patient admitted on that date without any record of a procedure or payment. This adjustment was made to ensure a clean Month-to-Date (MTD) view.
