The primary goal of this project was to develop an interactive Power BI dashboard that visualizes key performance indicators (KPIs) for Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH).
MGH required a data-driven approach to monitor and improve operational efficiency and patient outcomes. Key business needs included:
- How many patients have been admitted or readmitted over time?
- How long are patients staying in the hospital, on average?
- How much is the average cost per visit?
- How many procedures are covered by insurance?
To meet these needs, the project involved:
- Data Collection and Preparation: Extracting and cleaning patient records, ensuring data accuracy for reliable analysis.
- Interactive Visualizations: Creating a series of visualizations.
- Filtering: Implementing interactive filters to allow users to explore data by specific criteria such as date ranges, patient demographics, and procedure types.
- Top N Analysis: Highlighting the top 10 most common procedures to focus on significant data points.
- Percentage Metrics: Calculating and displaying the percentage of procedures covered by insurance to evaluate financial efficiency.
