Global CO2 Emissions

"Climate change is already happening: temperatures are rising, drought and wildfires are starting to occur more frequently, rainfall patterns are shifting, glaciers and snow are melting, and the global mean sea level is rising" (European Environment Agency).

Key Insights:

1- Almost two-thirds of all CO2 emissions generated in 2021 were produced by only 10 countries.

2- Even though China is currently the largest producer of CO2 emissions, when considering the ratio between emissions and population, the US remains the major player.

3- Regarding CO2 emissions per capita, the countries with the highest rates of emission are from the Arab states of the Persian Gulf.
