About this project

Project Vision:

Set out on an adventure across the colorful world of LEGO with the Maven LEGO Challenge project. Explore sets, pieces, and prices from 1970 to 2022. Discover trends, demographics, and top insights at your fingertips!

Join me as we stack blocks of data into an interactive Power BI dashboard to reveal a captivating journey through time and creativity!

My Approach Insights:

  1. Before diving into the data, I prioritize understanding the USER of my dashboard. I aim to bridge raw data into ACTIONABLE BUSINESS INSIGHTS, meeting their expectations and needs.

  2. Once the user is identified, I delve deep into the data to ensure its ACCURACY and carefully analyze the KEY INSIGHTS to showcase as well as how it should be LAID OUT on the report page.

  3. Upon determining the KPIs, I select FIT VISUALS that align with the data being presented, along with COLOR-CODING, TOOLTIPS, and other needed options. My goal is simplicity, ensuring users can quickly grasp the business status at a glance.

  4. I adore using the "CROSS FILTER" feature to minimize the necessity for multiple filter visuals all on one page—it's a game-changer!

Dashboard:

I emphasized the most important insights and trends on the left 2/3 of the page. YOU can quickly grasp essential KPIs numerically and time series analyses demonstrating how these metrics have changed over years and entire decades, making it easier to compare KPIs and highlight growth percentages.

On the right 1/3 of the page, I provided a deeper comprehension of the facts by going into a little more depth. This part gives YOU a more in-depth understanding of the dataset with its Top N analysis, categorization breakdowns, and distribution insights.

LEGO's Evolution:

LEGO's journey began modestly in 1970 with 41 Sets and 4K Pieces. By the 2010s, it surged to 7K Sets and 1,400K Pieces. Between the 2000s and 2010s, there was a 73% increase in Sets paralleled by a notable 106% surge in the number of Pieces. This demonstrates a significant expansion in both the variety and complexity of LEGO products over the decade.

In 1975, five years after the first Sets launched, 37 Minifigs debuted. In 2005, a significant moment occurred as Minifigs outnumbered Sets. This signals LEGO's shift towards character-centric experiences. undefined Despite inaccuracies data, Retail Prices exhibit a consistent upward trajectory, reaching $29K in 2022. Projections hint at a potential $52K by 2030, underscoring LEGO's commitment to quality and value. undefined Top N Visuals showcase Sets featuring such as the 5 Sets with the Most Minifigs, the 5 most complex LEGO Sets based on the number of Pieces, and the top 20 expensive Sets by Retail Prices

The distribution analysis provides LEGO's target demographic from 1 to 18 years old, revealing a peak at 6-year-old, followed closely by 5-year-olds and 7-year-olds
