About this project

The project, “Unveiling the LEGO Legacy: A data-driven journey through time,” aimed to analyze the evolution of LEGO sets from 1970 to 2022. The primary goals were to understand the trends in complexity, pricing, and themes of LEGO sets, and to assess the impact of licensed groups on LEGO evolution.

The business need was to gain insights into the factors that have contributed to LEGO enduring popularity and growth. This could potentially inform future product development and marketing strategies for LEGO or similar companies.

The project involved analyzing a dataset containing information about LEGO sets, including their theme, sub-theme, number of pieces, number of mini-figures, age range, retail price, and more. The dataset provided a comprehensive view of LEGO product line over the years.

A public dataset was used to impute few of the missing pieces. The color from inventory data was utilized to observe the trends of color per theme and pieces. This added a new dimension to the analysis, allowing for a more detailed understanding of LEGO product strategy.

Insights were discovered through rigorous data analysis and visualization. Trends in the number of sets, complexity, and pricing were examined over time. The evolution of themes and the impact of licensed groups were also explored.

The findings were presented in a clear and engaging manner, highlighting key trends and insights. The project not only provided a fascinating look at the history of LEGO but also demonstrated the power of data analysis in uncovering meaningful insights.

This project is a testament to the power of data in telling stories and driving decision-making in business. It showcases how data analysis can unveil the legacy of a brand like LEGO and provide valuable insights for its future.
