Problem Statement
The main goal of the project is to understand the key developments of Lego sets in the past thirty years and how these products changed in this period. Additionally, the goal is to see how the prices of the products have changed and in particular, how the value of Lego sets behaved after there are were not being produced anymore.
The goals are
- What number of sets and themes was launched every year since 1991?
- What themes were available over the years and with how many sets?
- What were the yearly top ten most dominant themes by the number of sets?
- What were the record-breaking sets by piece count?
- Do sets have more and more pieces in general?
- What words do most often come up in set names?
- Are lego sets becoming more and more expensive?
- How does the value of lego sets change after they are not actively produced anymore (EOL = “end-of-life”)?
- What themes do best after EOL?
*EOL — “end of life”: the date after which the set is not being produced anymore and is only available on the secondary market
