This project focuses on exploring which product category drive the biggest profits, seasonal trends in sales data, and which item has the highest amount of stock.
Key Insights:
Downtown and Residential locations had Toys for their top product category. On the other hand, Electronics is the top product category for Commercial and Airport.
The top two cities Ciudad de Mexico and Guadalajara gained $465.56k and $368.93k in which majority of the profit came from airport stores with 36.48% and 32.95% respectively.
RECOMMENDATION: Check the opportunities of adding stores in Airports. Currently, there are only three stores and two of them are major contributors in profits.
Sales from February and August for 2017 and 2018 were both below average.
Games and Sports & Outdoors are most profitable in December 2017. On the other hand, Toys sales each month are always above average.
RECOMMENDATION: Consider offering discounts in February and August because it might help with the increase of profit.
Colorbuds, under Electronics category, is the top product with 20.80% contribution in terms of overall profit. However, a downward trend in Electronics is noticeable and profit is below average starting April 2018.
Profit gained from Arts and Crafts continue to increase overtime. Above average profit started on November 2017. Etch A Sketch and Playfoam were an effective addition given that it contributed $150.79k which is 20% of the overall sales of Arts and Crafts.
RECOMMENDATION: Continue to focus on the growth of Arts & Crafts.
RECOMMENDATION: Increase promotion in Puebla for Lego Bricks, Monterrey for Rubik's Cube, Ciudad de Mexico for Magic Sand and Dinosaur Figures since majority of the stock cost are tied to these cities with 14.31%, 10.15%, 15.24%, and 12.50% respectively.
