Los Angeles Crime Project (2020-2023)

Objective

The purpose was to perform the duties of a Data Analyst who had been recruited to clean and generate a dashboard that highlights crime trend and critical insights on areas with highest crime number and most occurring crime.

• What was the crime trend?

The above image shows that the number of crime continued to increase from January 2020. The trendline also confirmed this.

• How many crime types existed in Los Angeles and what was the most occurring crime type

138 crime types occurred in LA in 4 years and stolen vehicle crimes occurred most. Stolen vehicle crime had a rate of almost 11% while 137 crime types shared almost 90% as at December 2023.

• What areas are crime prone?

Central area had 58,000 crimes in 4 years. Followed by 77th street, Pacific, Southwest, and Hollywood.
