Problem statement

AtliQ Hardware, a prominent provider of computer hardware and peripherals with multiple branches across India, is currently facing challenges in business performance analysis. The Sales Director is encountering difficulties in comprehending the company's operational hurdles, particularly as sales figures have been unexpectedly declining. A significant part of this challenge stems from the inefficiency in obtaining accurate and timely sales updates from regional managers. This issue is exacerbated by the general discomfort with interpreting complex data from Excel files, leading to frustration and potential delays in decision-making.

Steps Followed in this project

  1. Utilized MySQL for data extraction from the database into Power BI.
  2. Conducted data cleansing operations within Power Query.
  3. Executed the ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load) process.
  4. Developed measures to address specific needs and integrated them into Power BI for enhanced visual analytics.
  5. Addressed currency discrepancies in transactional data by implementing a standardized currency conversion process.
  6. Ensured data integrity through rigorous data validation techniques.
  7. Advanced in data modeling and visualization, optimizing the representation of complex data sets.

Insights

  • The dashboard reveals that over four years, the company has amassed a total revenue of ₹985M, with a profit margin of ₹24.7M, equating to 2.5%. The sales quantity reached 2M units. Specifically, in 2020, the revenue was ₹142M from sales of 350K units, yielding a profit of ₹2.1M.
  • Delhi NCR emerged as the top revenue-generating market over this period with ₹520M, contributing 52.8% to the total revenue. However, its profit margin stands at only 2.3%.
  • In terms of profit margin, Bhubaneshwar led in 2020 with a remarkable 10.48%. Mumbai, on the other hand, made the largest contribution to overall profit at 23.89%.
  • Bengaluru, over the four years, recorded the lowest profit margin at -20.8%. It also contributed the least to total profit, with a -0.3% share.
  • Among our top five customers, Electricalsara Stores stands out, having generated revenue of ₹413M over four years.
  • In our product portfolio, Prod318 is the highest revenue generator, bringing in ₹69M over the same period.
  • The product types 'Distribution' and 'Own Brand' each generated revenue of ₹494M over the four years.
