The Challenge
The Onyx Data Top 1000 YouTube #DataDNA Challenge dataset is a comprehensive collection of data on approximately 1000 YouTube Channels. The dataset includes detailed information on the;
- Name of the YouTube channel
- Position of the YouTube channel based on the number of subscribers
- Number of subscribers to the channel
- Number of views of the channel
- Category or niche of the channel
- Title of the YouTube channel
- Total number of videos uploaded on the channel
- Total number of video views
- Country where the YouTube channel originates
- Type of the YouTube channel (e.g., individual, brand)
- Lowest and Highest earnings of the channel (monthly & yearly)
- Ranking of the channel based on the number of subscribers within its country
- Number of subscribers within the last 30 days
- Unemployment rate in the country
- Total population of the country and the percentage of the population enrolled in tertiary education in the country.
Challenge Objective
The objective of this project was to analyze the user engagement and performance metrics of the top 1000 YouTube channels in 2023 while offering the final user—possibly aspiring content creators—actionable insights and data-driven tactics.
Single Page Report
The dashboard below gives a comprehensive report of the findings obtained, within this dashboard, users are able to identify;
- The Top 3 channel categories and channel types based on subscriber count
- Top countires based on number of channels
- Audience Engagement
- Factors that enhances the monthly and yealy earnings of a channel
- Trends and patterns in the growth of a channel
UX/UI
- The dashboard interface was done by importing backgrounds already created using Figma
- Usage of Tooltips was employed to enhance the User Experience.
