Build Your First AI Agent with Microsoft Copilot

Live workshops are exclusively available to Maven Pro subscribers. To register for this workshop you'll first need to create an account.
Your team gets the same questions over and over. Where's the policy? What's the process? Which template do we use? You know the answers live in your files and SharePoint sites, but pulling them together every time is slow, and Copilot Chat on its own doesn't always know where to look. Copilot agents are designed to close that gap, but it's not always obvious how to build one that actually works.
In this 90-minute session, you'll walk away with a working first version of a Microsoft Copilot agent. You'll define what the agent should do, connect it to the right knowledge sources, then test and improve it in real time using sample questions.
What you'll learn
Understand when an agent is the right fit, not just Copilot Chat
Learn the difference between Copilot and agents, and how to spot the repeatable tasks in your role that an agent can support.
Define your agent's purpose and configure the core build
Set a clear purpose, write the instructions that guide its behavior, and configure the basic agent setup (name, scope, intended use).
Connect the agent to trusted knowledge sources
Wire your agent into URLs, uploaded files, and internal sources like SharePoint or Teams so it answers from content you trust.
Test, refine, and plan what comes next
Run sample questions, spot weak answers, refine instructions and sources to improve accuracy, and understand the usual path to publishing or sharing the agent.
Who should join this workshop?
Business users and Copilot champions who want a practical, no-code introduction to building agents
Subject matter experts in HR, finance, ops, IT, or sales who want an agent that handles repeat questions from trusted content
Anyone with access to Copilot agents who can connect basic knowledge sources like URLs, files, or SharePoint
Prerequisites
A Microsoft 365 Copilot license OR Pay-as-you-go (Copilot credits) enabled for agents
Comfort using Copilot Chat and working with common workplace files
This is a live, hands-on session and active participation is expected
