Challenge Objective
For the Maven Everest Challenge, you’ll play the role of a data journalist tasked with telling the story of mankind’s quest to conquer Mount Everest. Using real expedition data, your goal is to craft a compelling visual narrative that highlights things like key milestones, shifting strategies, and the climbers who dared to reach the top of the world.
About The Data SetThis dataset, based on the archives of Elizabeth Hawley, provides a comprehensive record of mountaineering expeditions in the Nepalese Himalaya, spanning from 1905 to 2024. It includes detailed information on 89,000+ members across 11,000+ expeditions and 480 mountain peaks, including dates, successes, and significant events.

Official Terms & Conditions
- Maven Analytics will give away 3 Annual subscriptions for an Individual account: 1 for a "First-time Entrant", 1 for the "Fan Favorite", and 1 for the "Challenge Winner". After the 1 year period, the subscriptions will renew at full price unless canceled (you can cancel at any time).
- A "First-time entrant" is a Maven Analytics user who has published a project to Showcase assigned to a Maven Challenge for the first time.
- Maven Analytics will give away 1 "Challenge Winner" shirt to the overall winner.
- No purchase is necessary to enter.
- The challenge will close to new entries on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 11:59pm ET. All entries must be submitted prior.
- After the submission deadline, the "First-time Entrant" winner and general finalists will be chosen by the Maven team.
- The "Fan Favorite" will be awarded to the project with the most Likes on Showcase exactly 1 week after the submission deadline.
- Maven Analytics will select 1 "Challenge Winner" from the finalists in a live vote.
