Tour de France History

About this project

The Tour de France is one of the most iconic and prestigious cycling races in the world and has been held annually since its inception in 1903. The dataset contains information on every Tour de France race from 1903 to 2023, including details such as the route, the participating teams and riders, and the results of each stage and winner.

Using Power BI, I have conducted a thorough analysis of this dataset, exploring trends and patterns in the data and drawing insights into the history and evolution of the race over the past century. Some of the key findings from your analysis might include:

  • The dominance of certain teams and riders over different eras of the race, and how this has shifted over time.
  • The presence of outliers or anomalies in the data, such as lowest margin or highest speed, and how these have affected the outcome of individual races or the reputation of the race as a whole.

All visualizations have been made using DENEB visual in Power BI, using Vega-Lite Coding.

Overall, the analysis of this Tour de France dataset provides a fascinating glimpse into the history and culture of one of the world's most iconic sporting events and sheds light on the many factors that have contributed to its enduring legacy over more than a century of competition.
