About this project

Project Rundown

Objective:

To provide MavenTech regional managers with an interactive dashboard that allows them to review their sales team quarterly performance.

Process:

Reviewing the Data

The first steps before diving in are to familiarize oneself with the data.

The dataset for this project consisted of (5) separate tables in a CSV format. These tables were imported into PowerBI where any data cleaning, formatting or manipulation will be done. The tables imported were:

  • Accounts - general information for customers including location, industry type and revenue generated.
  • Data Dictionary - description of variables used in each table.
  • Products - listing of products supplied by MavenTech and their sales price.
  • Sales Pipeline - where the individual sales are logged along with agent, sales values and deal stage.
  • Sales Teams - provides the MavenTech team breakdown by region, area manager then agents.

The project focuses on Sales Managers, each overseeing three specific regions in the United States. The hierarchy is organized by region, Sales Manager, and their respective agents. Users can view individual regions or an overall summary.

Processing and Modeling Data

Minimal data cleaning was done, and currency columns were formatted. Columns were added to the 'sales_pipeline' table to track deal engagement to sale close duration, with separate columns for engage/close dates by month. Relationships between tables were established after minor formatting.

Dashboard Concept

The dashboards embody MavenTech's design aesthetic. A landing page was incorporated to provide users with a starting point. Custom background, graphics and color scheme used.

undefinedEach subsequent page has a consistent yet simple format: top KPIs, key graphs, and a side menu bar. The page is filtered based on region.

undefinedEach screen can be further customized from the 'Regional Manager' and 'Agent' drop down menus located at the top right. Selection any component of the page's graphic will customize the page further, giving the Manager a varied snapshot of their agent's sales performance.

The manager can also select any corresponding bar from the 'Quarterly Sales Performance' graphic to see the metrics for that quarter.

KPIs

There are 4 main KPIs for each regional dashboard.

  1. Sales: Total revenue based on closed date.
  2. Average Deal Length: Days from engagement to close. Includes deals that were either won or loss.
  3. Wins: Successful sales
  4. Overall Deals: Includes all deals/sales regardless of status

Dashboard Graphics

  1. Quarterly Sales Performance: Based on close date. The dates were broken down into the quarters.
  2. Sales Per Month: Another dynamic metric that will change based on selections.
  3. Deal Rate Percentage: Sales pipeline stage. Not every stage will be applicable.
  4. Product Distribution: Total value for each item MavenTech sales
  5. Top 3 Accounts: This metric can be shown by region, manager and agent based on selection.

The general dashboard (Overview) has a similar layout but product distribution is removed and replaced with a section for 'Top Performers'.

The purpose of this page is to give a company wide overview of sales, quarterly performance, top performers, monthly sales and sales pipeline stage percentage. The graphics can be customized by selecting a bar on the 'Quarter Sales' bar chart for the corresponding quarter

Global Outlook

This gives a brief look at the MavenTech Customer base.undefinedThis dashboard page presents an interactive filled map showcasing customer locations globally. Hover over any country to reveal a tailored tool-tip with specific metrics, including the number of accounts, average sales, top agency, and leading industry for that region. Adjacent to the map, a table displays each country alongside its corresponding revenue figures, offering a comprehensive overview of sales performance across different geographic areas.

Conclusion

This project showcases a unique step forward in visualizing and understanding MavenTech's company sales landscape. By incorporating interactive features such as the filled map with customized tooltips, charts and graphs, it has empowered the regional managers to gain deeper insights into their sales teams.
